Project: Nation’s First Standalone Oncology Daycare Center, New Delhi

Project Brief: The mandate of the project was simple – creating a patient friendly environment outside of the hospital footprint and embedded within the community.

The design challenges stemmed primarily from the tight footplate. However, the design team along with a very motivated and engaged client were able to deliver an environment that landed at the intersection of hospitality and healthcare. The success of the project is exemplified in the following:

• A calming environment within the busy neighbourhood of Lajpat Nagar began at the doorstep of the facility with a Zen Garden and continued in the rest of the facility with the use of soothing colours and warm woods

• An uncluttered floor plan that facilitates clear wayfinding between the different zones of the footplate

• Appropriate zoning between the busier OPD section and the more controlled chemotherapy area.

• Accommodation of 15 private bays, each providing control of ambient lighting, temperature control as well as TV within each bay that provided headsets for each individual patient as well as their accompanying family/friend.

• The Private Bays also enjoy privacy while maintaining controlled view with the nurses’ station for patient safety.
