PROJECT

Project: Oncology Prototype – Outpatient Center with addition to a 50 bedded Inpatient Center

Client: Medical Equipment Manufacturer

Project Scope: 65,000 sf Greenfield Prototype Oncology Center – Phased Design, Architecture, Healthcare Planning, Interior Design

Project Duration: N/A

Project Status: Ongoing

Project Brief: To design an Outpatient Centric Outpatient Center complete with OPD components, Radiation Oncology and Medical Oncology, Surgical Oncology along with Inpatient beds and supporting elements. The goal would be to be able to replicate this model with minimum redesigning in most parts of nation. Therefore, designing in flexibility was key to the prototype. The highlights of the project include the following:

  • The primary success of this design lies in the manner in which it morphs from an outpatient centric facility to an inpatient centric facility with minimal disruption.

  • The size of the plot was maintained as a tight site in order for it to be able to morph in most urban sites.  The grids maintained at a consistent distance throughout the building and one that would work well for all modalities across the building

  • Phase 01 primarily contains Radiation Oncology, Nuclear Medicine, OPD facilities and Medical Oncology

  • Phase 02 integrates an Emergency Department, Radiology, Surgery, ICUs, Inpatient Rooms along with support facilities to support an Inpatient Centric Facility

  • The interior design effort focussed on designing interior elements with aesthetically crafted proportions – the finish on every surface could be then be changed out as per client’s branding requirements.
